    Elbow dysplasia

Elbow dysplasia is a group of orthopedic diseases causing degenerative joint disease in the elbow. FCP (fragmented medial coranoid process) is a small, difficult to diagnosis, fracture of the ulna. UAP (ununited anconeal process) is when the bone in this specific region of the ulna does not unite. OCD (osteochondrosis dissecans) is an abnormality seen in puppies where the cartilage does not properly form into bone. These three diseases can all be part of elbow dysplasia. Typically seen in large breed dogs, this disease can be genetic or due to rapid growth and a high-energy diet. Depending on the underlying cause (or causes) surgery may be recommended.
